Who can and should go to EWC
- EWC at a spiritual, not only religious event. It touches the soul and therefore concerns every human being.
- At EWC, we do not ask whether someone goes to church, whether they are religious or not. It is not important. The important thing is not who you are, but what you can become. This is a photo for people who are looking for more in life - meaning and a new idea for themselves.
- We discourage people who locate that somehow it will be. That if she doesn't have inertia, someone will help them. We discourage closed people who are not looking for new ideas for themselves. We discourage people who judge others and rate themselves better than them.
- EWC is not about sport. This is not an adventure. This is the way to meet your soul.
- EWC is a great consideration for people who have a lot of time and have a hard time finding time for their soul and theirs. This accumulation gives you to thoroughly rethink yourself.
The Idea
Will you take up the challenge (and the opportunity)?
You can experience the Way of the Cross "traditionally" in church, comfortably sitting in a bench and listening to meditations. But you can also do it in a different – EXTREME way! And we would like to invite you to set off on such a Way of the Cross. There will be about 100,000 of us in 20 countries! Why don’t YOU set off on the Extreme Way of the Cross in 2022?

Participants about EWC
Willingness to test ourselves, to identify with Christ. We take not only the birch cross for the way, we take our small crosses."
"It's an interesting experience. For some it was definitely a form of penance. There was time to think about some things, there was time to meditate, to calm down."
"It's not worth living normally, you have to live extreme. Here, during the Extreme Way of the Cross, faith meets decisions of will, emotions. This is a real exercise, a person can actually be transformed afterwards."
Choose the routeHow to prepare yourself for EWC
- You should start by choosing the place from which you will depart. It is customary for EWC to begin with an ordinary Mass. When selecting a place/area - you need to check when the departure is planned.
- There are routes prepared in the area. You can download a GPS track or print a route description. It makes walking a lot easier because it is difficult to ask for directions at night.
- You can go to EWC alone or in a small group. There is silence in all cases. The pilgrims stop in designated places for prayer at the station. Avoid talking and picnics. You can eat and drink on the route. It is not the essence of EWC to lack food.
- Special considerations are prepared for EWC that reflect the spirit of this challenge. They are prepared by Fr. Jacek Wiosna Stryczek together with his community. You can listen to them - the recording is available in the EWC application or read.
- ECW is not a pilgrimage. There is no security. Everyone is fighting alone to stay on the road. Risks. Nor is it about going out with any intention. It's about changing your life. If the pilgrim gets better, everyone will benefit.
- God does not plan good weather for EWC. Our God doesn't deal with the weather. It is about making us better. So it would help if you took precautions against all kinds of weather. Walking 40 km takes 8 (very fast) to 12 hours.
